Full of countless tar pits and unpredictable magma flows that threaten ground bound forces as well as lava geysers reaching nearly 2 kio into the air, the Waste Lands are hardly a place one might want to visit. Spanning over 200,000 kio, it offers nothing but destruction and woe to all, being the hottest place in Av-Ta-Su-Wahi. Anything not made of protosteel or explicitly heat-resistant will have a hard time keeping themselves from melting away slowly and painfully.
Air conditioning and sunglasses won't save you here.

A Rahkshi-Nui and three individual rahkshi fly into the area at full speed, shielded from the blistering heat and scorching light by a cloud of Shadow.

The Rahkshi-Nui quickly drops down, being heat-resistant and immune to the light. Down on the ground, he locates a lava tube. "I found one! It looks like it heads toward the rahkshi outpost... should we take it?"

The other three drop down with the shielding darkness. "As long as you're sure it won't break open and kill us with lava, yes."

"...well we could stay out here for a while, maybe we can find another tunnel that advertises, 'No lava flows!' instead. Well, I might find it, you guys will probably burn up shortly after your power runs out." The Rahkshi-Nui enters the tunnel, flying just half a bio off the ground.

"Fair point." The others fly down the tunnel as well. Yay.

"So... how much of that vial do you have left? We might need to free the entire outpost. Do you think it might be contagious?"

Krarahk looks at the vial. "Not enough for a whole outpost. Hmm. I suppose it could be contagious. Depends on whether the makuta who made it gave it a set lifetime."

"A Turahk was acting under the Makuta's will and made the virus, he was also The First. They likely kept him alive to examine what went wrong... wait, you're not from Aluxa?"

"Nope. That's what the city's called?"
"...yeah. The Makuta forced us to take control of the city, and it's guardian killed many of us before- well, no one has seen him since the battle. I personally wasn't there, but rumor is that The Makuta-" He pauses. "Shhhh... Do you hear that?"

A wave of lava rockets up from the ground behind them, then begins to spill over and towards them at high speed.
HHHHHHSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!
"RUN!" The three rahkshi dash down the tube, Krarahk hurling shadow behind him to delay the lava what little he can.
The Rahkshi-Nui falls back. "I can delay it, keep running!" The heat-resistance kraata channels it's powers through its staff and into the ground, freezing the ground beneath to sub zero temperatures. When the lava reaches it, the tunnel floor cracks and opens up. "Kinda thought it would do something different..." He leaps back and tries again.

Krarahk glances back in concern, but keeps running. Vorahk tests to see if he can absorb heat.

More cracks burst open in the ground. "Gah, weather-control doesn't work underground!"
A jet of plasma bursts from the side of the tunnel, nearly vaporizing the Guurahk.
"AHH!" The Guurahk uses the resulting adrenaline to run ever faster. Wait, do rahkshi have adrenaline? The Krarahk projects a sheet of darkness onto the walls in an attempt to block the hot geysers of lava and plasma.

A burning rock lands right in front of the Krarahk, while the overflowing over-pressurized lava gains on him.
