Cekara, toa of psionics, and Jendakoz, toa of plasma, step forward. Cekara wears a blue Iden and the Su-toa's face supports a white Olmak. "I can help. The Manases are machines, right?" "I'll help."
Brotax nods. "They are machines. You're a Toa of Psionics, though?"
"Yeah, but my mask will let me take control of the machinery."
A Toa of Earth approaches Cekara. "Do you even realize what you're implying by offering your use of that mask?"
"...Hm?"
"You're saying you'll give up your Toahood, your... your existence as a symbol for the protection of Matoran for the schemes of this guy with unproven credentials."
"You're saying you'll give up your Toahood, your... your existence as a symbol for the protection of Matoran for the schemes of this guy with unproven credentials."
"So you're saying that you think a single toa will help the matoran feel more protected from the fleet of 300 Manas than an allied manas would? I find that entirely baffling. Besides, I'll still be a toa. Just a toa with a spaceship for a body."

"...You make a compelling argument." He turns to Brotax. "I'll help."

Foldok unshoulders his reel of cable. "Are we ready?"
Unsure where Brotax has vanished off to, the toa begin organizing action under the leadership of Kortall. First order of business? Solidifying alliance with NA and getting them to let us use their toa.
A toa of sand stands before a group of new recruits from NA. "Toa! You may have in your heads dreams of conquering villains using awestriking displays of brute force. Perhaps you will be able to do such in the future, but for the time being, banish those ideas from your minds. Until you have trained greatly, you will not have the energy to do such feats. For now, stick to more efficient uses of your powers whenever you can. First things first: Do not create your element unneccesarily. If the enemy is holding a torch, for instance, control it rather than making a new fireball to throw at him. Second: Smaller scales are often more damaging. A needle of rock whipped through one's eye is more debilitating than a slab to the knee. Third: Familiarize yourselves with what things contain your element. Spar with one another; I and others will be reviewing your abilities and tactics. Later we will be practicing kanohi and weapons, but focus on your element for now. Begin."

"Halt. Good. A good start for all of you. Next you must learn to use kanohi. You, ce-toa. I have not the words to describe what they must do. Broadcast my thoughts so they know how to activate a kanohi." "Uh... Alright." "Do that, and find your mask power. Spend some time figuring out some useful techniques with your mask, and find any ways you can integrate it with your element. Practice until using your mask to the most skilled degree is second nature. Begin."

"Good. Now. The best practice for a toa is action. Therefore, we will be driving rahkshi out of several regions they have invaded over time. Familiarize yourself with this list of rahkshi powers and colors, and always assume that a rahkshi is tougher than you think. We live in ten minutes."
The toa begin building defenses for the Fortress while they wait for scouts to return. The building is reinforced, and expanded notably to allow for the larger number of toa. Walls are built of protosteel, reinforced with stone, and plated with toa seal by the droves of toa. At the base of the wall there is a thick layer of lightvines, along with a type of flower whose scent puts things to sleep. The wall is charged with elemental energy, and assaults attackers with elemental projectiles. A barrier of electrified light covers the surface of the wall, endangering creatures of shadow - and normal creatures, for that matter - further. Lastly, there is a moat filled with water, and the bottom of this moat is a highly magnetic floor of metal. The gate is a colossal opening in the wall, wide enough for full teams of toa to walk in and out side by side. The porticullis hums with a high pitched sound, and similarly to the wall, crackles with light and electricity. The drawbridge is a tall slab of tightly interwoven ribbons of metal. The bottom is plated with toa seal like the wall, making it all but seamless when closed. The only visible difference in the gate's location is the lack of gleaming, cracking light in the gate's silhouette.

The beaten squad returns, having lost 15 good toa to Zurakia. A few leaders are berated on their incorrect knowledge of toa seal, and their training continues.
Kraten suggests that toa be allowed to be turned into shadow toa using an avsa if they so desire, as it would add another element to their ranks and gather those types into a proper group. He is, of course, met by opposition from the other leaders.

"But shadow toa could be incredibly useful! All I ask is you give it a chance!" Kraten's hands writhe with shadow, a form of fidgeting. The darkness pours off his hands, sinking to the floor like fog, and is replenished at a rate that makes it seem like it's growing, rather than sinking. Kortall, by contrast, is much calmer. His sand-colored armor is motionless, asideform his kanohi's mouthpiece. "And risk one going mad, killing a number of toa before they realize what's going on. Not to mention the crossfire from such an event. No. It's far too dangerous. Unless you have some guarantee they couldn't do as such?" "I can train them, work with their minds. And... Phorell. The toa of light. You could make them their own group as well, and give them a partial task of watching us. Keep us out of trouble." "Perhaps..." Kortall pauses. The pause stretches on, and Kraten's elemental fidgeting grows stronger. "Very well. The toa of light and shadow shall become separate groups, and keep one another out of trouble. Phorell, round up the toa of light. Kraten, gather your shadow toa candidates. It is likely our numbers will be lower than those of other elements. Act accordingly. I expect both of you to work with one another, and with me. Dismissed."
