Overwhelming insanity is an awful threat to the average being, simply because they are unable to cope. The massive amount of data that conflicts with everything they know and believe can easily sweep away the unprepared.
Fortunately for this Toa, her element was Psionics. The power she wielded on a daily basis required a complete and iron control over her own mind. The way to avoid being driven mad by a rush of nonsensical information was, simply enough, to only process a piece at a time. The scene in front of her was disassembled bit by bit, being broken down into small and managable (if such a thing is possible with the alien) chunks. Several other robed Toa across the city, the ones possessed of the Psionics element, assisted with a shared telepathic link. There were enough that one eventually recognized that a being was coming and warned the guardian, but it took far longer than the norm.
The Door opens and the being steps out a mischievous grin behind his mask.
The Hatter repositions his bowtie and begins to walk up to the gate.
A group of Toa step into the room, making a beeline for Mutrex. One of them is carrying a large object, wrapped in cloth. They kneel, presenting the package.
"Commander, The item you requested has been finished. For three days and three nights, Lihkar locked himself in his forge, and the flames roared higher than I have ever seen them. Finally, there was silence. We found his body lying there, clutching the thing he had wrought. I believe it to be dangerous, Sir."
Mutrex carefully lifts the proffered object, weighing it, judging it, before unwrapping it. The cloth falls away to reveal a mask. It looks visually similar to the one Mutrex currently wears, but is intricately engraved. Delicate etchings flicker in gold around the eye holes,
"Lihkar gave his life to forge this. It would be cowardly to simply designate it as "dangerous". It would dishonor his sacrifice. I will wear it."
Reaching up, he carefully detaches his current mask, wisps of antidermis slipping free through the new hole in his armor. Then he slowly brings the artifact up to his face. As it clicks into place, his armor twitches and begins to clatter against itself. He seems to grow larger, and then suddenly doubles over, coughing. The sudden rattle of heavy breathing echoes from Mutrex's armor.

Inharax looks at the mask with shock and disgust, coming to the swift deduction that it had reverted the Makuta to his organic form. "What form of heresy is this?!"
"Heresy?" The Av-Makuta cocked his head. "How do you define heresy? You yourself seem to have committed far more of those acts than we."
He turned to meet Mutrex's gaze. "You honor our fallen comrade. Thank you." He paused. "I am curious to learn more about this Atero, especially before we make any decisions regarding our involvement. Perhaps we should send an envoy of some sort to speak with those Toa, meet the potential candidates for election..."
"I still have my work here, but the two of us wouldn't be needed. You have always been a better judge of character than I; would you accompany the delegation?"

With Mutrex's departure, Inharax looks at Utherix. "There is a difference between a crime and a heresy. You have applied unspeakable power to a mundane mask, when these Legendary Kanohi ought to be held in the highest respect, granted the highest powers... not worn by any person to use as he pleases!"

The Av-Makuta dismissively waved a hand. "Please. These masks are but tools granted to us by the Great Beings. Why should we not make use of them? To apply such power to the least of their creations shows the respect we have for their work."
He returned to a comfortable kneeling position on the floor. "Until my brother returns, the matter of Atero is settled. Let us continue. I would like safe passage for any of my citizens or oathbearers traveling through your territory. I will not attempt to trample upon your right to refuse them, but they will in no instance be hindered while exiting your lands. Are these conditions satisfactory?"

Inharax burst out: "You cheapen their greatest creations with common powers!" But he calmed himself as it became clear the argument would go nowhere.
"If the reverse condition may also be met -- that nonmilitary from Destral may enter Aluxa. I find it only fair."
There was a moment of silence before he continued. "My next request has nothing to do with our unofficial treaty. I'd like to know of foreign involvement in this Wahi, as of this time. Any knowledge of other powers would be very much appreciated. I have had one of my Oathsworn scout the area, but it is always possible that something passed him by."

"Well, as you may imagine, there are always explorers and settlers out to make new life here. They are not so common, however, and will rarely be a nuisance. I know that a territorial, but otherwise non-aggressive, tribe of robots lives somewhere in this region. A violent and dangerous fugitive by the name of Jalkron lives here; he is a Toa of Plasma with whom even Toa cannot reason, and he hides somewhere in this Wahi, plotting to take justice into his own hands. You must be careful; we have reason to believe he destroyed a very well-fortified outpost of ours recently, and he distinguishes little between Makuta of either element."
Any non-mentally shielded people in the area feel something brush their minds and instantly pull away.
Shortly after there is a fwzzzz-BOOOM as an Olmak-type portal opens and an armored figure with a modified Kualsi steps through. He sees the area and his eyes widen about as far as they will go. He sees _Inharax_ and they widen even more if that were possible.

A Rahkshi-Nui teleports in front of him with two rahkshi at its side, likely causing the figures eyes to explode in impossible wideness.
Fireflyers swarm over the red hills and toward Aluxia.
The figure suddenly finds himself very worn out and tired.
"I will keep an eye out for him, then. Thank you for this information."
Even as the Av-Makuta finished his sentence, a strange figure appeared through a portal. More followed before he could so much as react. The first figure didn't appear to be with the second group, from the looks they shot at each other.
Things still seemed peaceful enough for the briefest of moments, allowing the Av-Makuta to reflect upon the necessity of some form of teleportation wards. His good humor rapidly evaporated as the Rahkshi began spreading their taint within his wall. These walls.
He calmly folded his hands in his lap and said simply, "You desecrate this holy place. This insult will not be borne."
A small, protective dome of Solid Light rolled over Inharax. The structure thrummed once more, sending the purest of Light flooding into every nook and cranny.
A black dome flares into existence around Proto, absorbing any energies directed at him.
As his armor adopts a reflective coating that bounces the light away, he disengages the shield, turns towards the Rahkshi-Nui, and glares at it. "Inharax? Is this your doing, or that of the rogue Destral fragment?"
"I will keep an eye out for him, then. Thank you for this information."

The Rahkshi-Nui adapts to the light, reflecting it, focusing it perfectly to blow a hole in the "wall."
The two escourts take refuge behind the Rahkshi-Nui.
Fireflyers swarm the city, bitting and scratching any non-agori/matoran other then the Rahkshi team.

Proto points his wristblasters at the Rahkshi, their ends sparking with the greyish energies of Stasis
Fireflyers try in vain to penetrate his adaptive armor.
"I gather I'm not making a very good first impression. May I have permission to eradicate these invaders on behalf of the State of Xia?"
Proto sends a quick message to XAI, telling her to ready the Phantoka-class drones.
OOC: here, but the Rahkshi are dead. They're not able to react to a beam of Light. Adaptation is a reactive power in Rahkshi, and you can't adapt to the thing that renders you powerless at best, and dead at worst. Particularly not something that you can't see coming. Your eyes can't see a beam of light coming before it hits. Not to mention that it's really not a beam.

OOC: They are outside. light is not an anti-power element, so if this Rahkshi-Nui survives, of course it adapts... but you're close to the truth my friend, so very close...
