It has been three years since they arrived. The Toa and the Matoran, along with a host of others, arrived on our planet, trapped inside the enourmous robotic body of a world-conquering giant. Mata Nui, who pledged to protect us, fell, and with him, seemingly all our hopes. What happened next could have been predicted by no one, save perhaps the one still living companion of the late Mata Nui, Berix. As Makuta raised his hand to wipe us out, there was a flash before an impossibly gargantuan explosion of pure fire exploded in front of him. THose who were in the sky at the time also reported two others, but did not know what they were.
Whatever they were, everyone there remembers the robot plunging backwards, shattering the Black Spike Mountains like a child's toy, even as a blue agori knelt on the ground, sobbing helplessly onto the shattered corpse of a Rahkshi of Heat Vision. Everyone also remembers how, one year later, a score of deaths were reported in a small village near where the Black Spikes used to be. A combined team of Toa and Glatorian were dispatched. They didn't come back. We found out they were Baterra, and we tried to stop them, creating technology to sense and destroy them. This worked, or so we all thought, until a massive Baterra fifty feet tall burst out of a mountain and attacked. It was only destroyed when a Glatorian sacrificed himself to set off a bomb in its head.
Now it is dawn, and as I ride the lift that carries me and my Matoran copilot, Fuli to my fifty-foot-tall Marendar fighting-machine, I am worried. He, however, is supremely confident, despite lacking any of the strange powers of the Toa he is apparently related to. We climb into the head-unit, with me at the cockpit and him at the control board. I put on the salvaged helmet and turn it on.
In the next moment, I am the Marendar, and as the hanger doors roll back and Fuli activates the rocket thrusters, giving me control of them, we shoot out of the massive building, three other Marendars behind us. The robots are loosely based off of the Prototype Robot's design, albeit much smaller.
I point upwards and set the rockets to maximum, shooting up and over the defensive structures in concert with my allies. Fuli pushes some more buttons, and our mission overlays on my vision. We are to perform an attack run over a suspected Baterra fortress, and then return to base Ackar.
Disclaimer: this isn't that good. I wrote it in twenty minutes and I liked it :lmbtongue:
