Somewhere in the Wahi lies a Makuta base, built into and underground of a mountain range. To all but a few, these mountains look perfectly normal, but they are far more than they appear. As is what lies inside this base.
Tredixs comes into the region and eventually flies down at the entrance of the base, just as Equinox was entering. But, those mountains.......it can't.....
"Those aren't......"
"Yes." Equinox replies.
"Are you crazy?"
"They are just improved versions of the Mountain. Scadion is not recreatable."
"Fine, fine...."
They enter the base and Tredixs notices the.....remains of one of Equinox's recent experiments.
"......Any luck with your brothers?"
"None. They know just about as much. We went to another for answers, but he didn't have them."
"More leaks are appearing. Freezing them only holds him off for so long. We need an answer."
"And you'll get one. Go now, you're a distraction."
Tredixs sighs. Working with Makuta is much more of a pain than killing them. He flies off to try and seal off another leak.
Equinox tests another freshly made virus into some Energized Protodermis.........It has no affect. He walks away from his work station and starts reciting what he knows about Energized Protodermis again. Surely, the solution is easy and he just hasn't seen it yet.
Explosive......No longer responsive when frozen......transforms or destroys.....power source.....Wait.....
He does into his data center, or library if you prefer to call it that, filled with stone tablets of notes and other knowledge. It doesn't take him long until he finds the ones he's looking for, Antidermis, Scadion, The Mountain, etc.
Of course, why didn't I consider this sooner. Even drained of power, that wouldn't stop it. No, it's the mind in control of the substance, that's what must be destroyed. With the mind gone, it will simply remain as it should, the planet's molten core.
"You really think these are the answer?"
Equinox ignores the vial of Energized Protodermis.
"It won't be much longer. I will be free from this planet again!"
"Correct energy waster, this world will be freed of you again. With your demise."
The Energized Protodermis chuckles and its voice slowly dies off as it remains silent again. Waiting to see what Equinox will try next.
Equinox creates an acid and dump it into the vial of Energized Protodermis. He waits, seeing if it has any effect.
"Acid? What is that supposed to do to me?"
Equinox shakes his head and starts making another acid.
"...................You were never fun like your brothers. They would at least humor me with what they're doing......................................................Don't ignore me, I know you heard me."
"...We are the same. Our mind exists in every part of our essence. To truly destroy us, you must destroy every piece. But, there was another like us. Your child Scadion, his mind could be transferred into even the smallest of materials. However, the acid from his sword severed his mind, preventing it from being transferred and surviving. All I need to do is change that acid to only kill your mind. Then, your body will lay dormant and sink back to the core."
"Do you really think you can destroy the mind and soul? That is not your field." Equinox remains silent. "I will return to talk again. Maybe you'll have something more silly to say."
Equinox tries many, many more different acids. All of them fail. He has no idea what he's doing wrong, but he knows he's close to being out of time.....................He needs help.................He leaves, heading to Destral.
Treakran and Ciakran appears in Equinox's library, near the vial of EP.
"You're sure this is where we can the answers we're looking for?"
"Sister, my shield is never wrong. This is where we get answers."
"Children," eyes form in the vial, "What are you doing here? You know your father wouldn't be pleased."
Ciakran gives a brief glance at Treakran before answering. "Yes, he wouldn't be happy, but only you have the knowledge that he seeks."
"And you think I would just tell you? What can you do that your father hasn't already tried?"
Treakran smiles and holds out a bottle containing some substance in it. EP tries to move as far back as it can without knocking its vial over.
"Fine, you make a convincing argument. What is it you want?"
"We need your psyche. We want to know why."
"You want to know why child? Then I will tell you why. In a time before time, I wasn't the only being made of this substance. There were hundreds, thousands even, and we were pretty happy. Except for one problem, those mind eaters. You may have heard of this so called 'Dreaming Plague' from the natives. That was caused by these beings. They tortured us, fed on us, kill us. We were powerless to stop them. So I fled and locked myself away in the core of the planet, the only place they couldn't get to me, for thousands of years. I, the Proto-Lord, hiding like a coward, hardening my mind as to not be killed. Finally, when the attacks stopped, I decided to return to the surface to rule the planet once more. But things had changed. Now there were these warriors, beings made of the elements, and those cursed so called Great Beings. I returned slowly, being cautious, not wanting to be killed. And then those monsters, these Great Beings, they took part of me. They experimented on me. They destroyed pieces of me, killed pieces of me, changed pieces of me. I hated them. I wished that they were dead. So, I shattered the planet. But the Great Beings were already prepared for that and created your universe, that massive robot. Over a hundred thousand years is a lot of time to think, calm down, and learn. Then, that cursed robot tried to seal me back into my tomb. That is not forgivable. But now I have a different plan. This planet isn't going to shatter children, it be being reborn into something greater. Stop fighting and join with me."
"That was boring. Did you get what you needed sister?"
"Yes, sending information now."
"That won't stop me children. It is far too late to stop me now."
"We'll see about that." The two vanish, traveling elsewhere.
Tredixs lands at the entrance of the base and as soon as he does, a voice fills his head.
"He's not here, he's at Destral. I could just tell him the information for you."
"Thanks Ciakran, but after not being able to anyone what I knew for years, I rather tell him myself. Where is Destral anyways?" He is given directions. "Thanks." He flies off.
Kaatonga comes to the entrance of the base, the white flames coming from her eyes unopposed from the darkness of the region. Nothing bars her from coming and Kaatonga makes her way to Equinox's lab. Does she know where it is inside the base? No, but she does know Equinox well enough to know that he would design his layout for the most time-efficient way possible. As the lab is where he does all his work, all other rooms where he might need something should be easily and quickly accessible. This goes for the entrance of the base, straight to the lab. A path so easy to follow it might as well have had signs pointing the way. When she gets there, she finds Equinox at a table, working with various substances. He doesn't turn towards her and the only sign of acknowledging her presence is his calm voice.
"And what brings a Servant of Mata Nui here?" He says it like this is a common occurrence.
"Mata Nui is dead, I am a servant no longer. As for what I need, I need your corpse."
"Rahi, did you learn nothing from Tredixs?" He sets down his tools.
"I learned enough."
The white flames extend, throwing themselves at Equinox as he turns around to face Kaatonga. Time slows, but Equinox quickly notices that it has no affect on this energy heading towards him. Shikran emerges from the Makuta's shadow and jumps in front of the place, the saw-blade shield ready to block the attack. The blast hits and the Vahtakran Hagah is sent flying into the wall behind Equinox, the body steaming. Equinox turns and looks at his fallen creation, surprised. This doesn't last for long, as Kaatonga runs the drill spear head up and through Equinox. Once impaled Kaatonga activates the switch, the head detonates, killing him. She pulls the weapon out of what remains of Equinox and the head of the polearm reforms.
"That was disappointing, I though it would put up a better fight."
Shadows throughout the Wahi grow somewhat darker as the Eye searches for Equinox.
At length, the Makuta's base is found, and, under cover of illusion (hidden from all but the inhabitants of Equinox's base), the Dread Wing "Obstinate" moves silently into the area.
The shadows in the room Equinox is currently in shudder a little, as a portion of Charix's scattered form enters them. Equinox hears Charix's voice, sliding smoothly out of one particular shadow in front of him.

"Equinox. I assume this is your establishment?"
Charix finds Equinox in a lab creating a Rahi and hears a constant buzzing noise in his mind when he enters the area, probably highly annoying him.
"Yes."
He finishes the Rahi and something just zips into the room, takes the Rahi, and then zips out as fast as it came.

Charix's interest is perked upon hearing the noise, which does not annoy him at the moment.
"Your base is well situated, and I assume you have invested resources into proper defenses for it. I trust this mental ambiance is one of them."

"Defensive, yes. That noise you're hearing is not one of them however, they are my spies. Your constant use of telepathy makes it more noticeable to you, as well as how many there are in here."

"Good. I trust Inharax has not completely ruined your loyalty to our Brother-Hood. Seeing as the Brother-Hood is in need of salvaging, I have returned to pick up the pieces. While surely failing in many respects, Inharax has succeeded in creating a situation that I can exploit easily. This is a chance to restart. Conquest and battles have been our way for years, but we are now starting to see how easily all our victories can be undone. I desire a more permanent victory, a more united Brother-Hood, and, most of all, an existing Brother-Hood. These endless wars are futile, and will end in the extinction of our race. They will also ensure that we will never gain the respect and obedience of the Matoran again. Just look at what Inharax has done to Atero-Nui. Was he mindful of how his actions would affect the way we are perceived? No. Where once we had peace, Inharax's shortsightedness has lead to a situation in which most of this world wants us dead. We need to restart. I have been making preparations to aid the matoran in their coming fight to retake Atero-Nui. I aim to present to them, and the world, a proper Brother-Hood; one that is honorable, strong, and able to protect the matoran and regain the standing we held before we lost our position of power. Several Makuta have already banded together under my leadership, and with their aid, I cannot fail. I have no regard for Inharax's RMS pawns. My military has never been defeated. I ask you to join me in my effort to reclaim stability for the Brother-Hood."

The shadows in the room shiver violently in response and Charix himself in his shadow form rises from one of them. He responds in a calm tone, his eyes betraying his agitation through their brightness and fiery sparking.
"You doubt me ability? Is it not true that the Brother-Hood faces annihilation? What would you have me do instead of this? Should I leave the Brother-Hood to its fate? What you do not realize Equinox, is that I am in fact, loyal to the Brother-Hood. I was loyal under Anranok, loyal under Karunax, and am, even now after having been rejected by Inharax, loyal to it. Shall I allow it to simply rot away and vanish?"
