"Absent" discovers a small area which can best be described as a living room. Two comfortable chairs and one couch sit about the room while a large computer screen is embedded in a wall. The screen is off, offering only a black screen for "Absent" to spy. At the back of the room, a few large crates can be seen placed against the wall. A few smaller boxes can also be seen sitting nearby. There does not appear to be anyone else in the room.
This looks like a great place for nap! Wait, no, focus, focus. You're here on a mission to fulfill the napping fee. Then you can come back and nap here! Yeah!
"Absent" goes over to the computer after his small search and tries to see if he can turn it on.
As Absent looks at the screen, he notices only a small, rectangular panel situated flush with the bottom edge of the screen's frame. The panel seems to be slightly set apart from the rest of the frame by virtue of a very thin gap on all sides of the panel and between it, and the surrounding frame.

"Absent" press the panel, but if that does nothing, he tries to remove the panel.

Upon being pressed, the panel tilts backwards slightly, before, seeming to have been released from a grip, swings forwards and away from the frame. The panel falls forwards, coming to a stop at a right angle with the computer monitor. This reveals a large keyboard attached to the now revealed backside of the panel. The Keyboard is marked with the Matoran alphabet and symbols. Absent would notice a key marked with a power symbol.

"Absent" presses the key with the power symbol.
The computer screen turns on and the image of the landscape directly in front of the bunker slowly fades into view.

If there are directional keys, "Absent" presses those.
The visual responds, spanning right, left, up, down, and zooming in or out depending on what keys are pressed.
At approximately this time, the bunker is scanned with Rode, radar, mind reading, Komau, and Akaku while also being surrounded on the exterior by a stasis field.
Two Defender Obelisks teleport into the upper atmosphere and above the Bunker while a team of four Kohrok, four Pahrak, twelve mechanized Deployers, four M. Exo Toa, sixteen H.W. Exo Toa, and four C/W Exo Toa teleport outside the Bunker. These forces quickly spread out, forming four groups and taking up positions around the Bunker.

The only scan that picks up on anything is the Akaku, which barely makes out the skeleton of some being inside. If "Absent" can see the approaching troops from his movement of the camera, he knows he is in trouble and found out. In which case, he phases through the floor and takes the long way out. If he can't or doesn't, he continues messing around with the controls.

Absent immediately picks up on the newly appearing ground forces and he is able to phase through the floor.
The visual image that was secured through Akaku is captured and stored in a database.
If possible, Akaku scans attempt to follow and track "Absent's" movements. If this works, an illusion power is cast upon the area making it appear as if the ground force has remained around the Bunker. In truth, the twelve Deployers and the eight Bohrok are directed to follow Absent under cover of the illusion.

"Absent" is unable to be tracked by Akaku once he phases and goes underground. He walks off through underneath the world for quite a ways until he is far away form the bunker, in which is finally phases back up to the surface and heads for somewhere else.

Some of the forces enter the bunker and inspect the interior while the rest wait outside. After a few minutes, the entire force, save for the Defender Obelisks, teleport elsewhere.

The Surge begins. Interceptor squadrons of 16 fly in wedge formations over the land, identifying landmarks, positions of cover/shelter, or people. Racing exactly two miles behind the interceptors are interceptanks.
Somewhere near five hundred tanks glide over the terrain. Behind them are seven hundred fifty wheeled personnel carriers that each transport an RMS squad. The tanks' objective is to immediately crush any being who puts up resistance against it. If a being does not attempt to fight back, the tank will continue moving on and a personnel carrier will stop and RMS agents will exit the vehicle to detain the being. This is performed across the entire area of the Deadman's Desert with some obvious spillover.

A vast portion of the desert ground is quickly covered in stasis fields by the myriad of identical surveillance bunkers positioned systematically throughout the area. The Interceptors spy forty such bunkers dotting the landscape while also observing a small fortress occupying a central location in the desert. Nearby the fortress, what appears to be two enormous cannons can be seen partially embedded into the ground. Another massive device can be seen which, resembling a square, short and squat electricity tower begins to crackle with energy before unleashing a massive burst of hundreds of individual tendrils of chain lightning which swarm into the air above the fortress, rapidly expanding in all directions and ripping through any interceptors that pass nearby.
Additional defenses are prepared and messages are relayed.

As this army approaches the stasis covered part of the desert, the system of Bunkers and the fortress begin energy consolidation tactics, channeling multiple streams of molecular disruption, hau energies, fragmentation energies, and seismic energies, through their channeling antenna and directly at every other Bunkers channeling antenna. The result is an interconnected system of Bunkers and the fortress channeling and sharing a steady stream of energy which is unleashed upon the oncoming line of tanks.
As the Tanks approach the closest band of Bunkers, concentrated and massive pulses of molecular disruption, and seismic energies are pounded out rapidly at oncoming tanks while thick streams of fragmentation are unleashed upon the advancing enemies as well. This attack is launched along the length of whatever defensive side of the desert the Tanks are attacking.
In addition to this, the two massive cannon emplacements positioned in the heart of the desert begin to power up.

Fortunately the mechanized army is not affected by Stasis, but the energy is a problem and the vehicles throw up elemental shields and Hau while advancing.
