Proto takes a break from suit-designing and opens a file on another project... After making a few alterations, he sends it to R&D to get the rest of it designed. 66%
Proto arrives back at his lab, and finds the Mangai's Kanoka waiting for him.
He uses some equipment to duplicate it, then sends the duplicate off to the labs for analysis.
He then grabs a small impactor device, calibrated to activate Kanoka without damaging them, and activates the disk.
There appears to be the equivalent of a pre-recorded message on it.
Hello, Proto. This Kanoka disk has been launched with as much accuracy as possible towards Xia; we, the Toa Mangai, hope that it reaches you.
We have seen your aircraft performing a strange exercise over Atero Nui; please contact us with this disk as soon as possible to explain what they were doing for our and the city's peace of mind.
OOC: Would you mind doing so in the Citadel of the Mangai topic? It would make it a fair bit simpler, given that the Mangai are already engaged in diplomacy via Psionic connection with Inharax there.

Proto sighs, getting out of his suit and swapping out his Kaulsi for his regular mask. He makes a mental note to attempt to expand the Xian civilian data network into Atero as soon as possible, before activating the disk and sending his message.
XAI is working on a pet project of hers, that is, informing people on the XIan civnet why they are wrong, when she recieves an email from Kordukla to the Xian government in general. XAI reads it and is immedietely concerned. She ceases bothering MakootaKillar198 and immedietely reads the email. A few questions sent to Kordukla's airship pilot later, XAI has all the data she needs.
The newcomers displayed previously unseen forces and extremely rare powers. XAI adds this to her search queries. They were focused on Light and came from the north. XAI adds this, watching the probable locations gravitate towards Av-Su-Ta-Wahi. Combining the search terms, she comes upon one tentative answer, from a Xiajet video capture a few weeks ago.
She informs Proto.
Proto promptly falls out of his chair, dropping the model he was working on on the floor. "WHAT?!" "From what information I can acquire, they likely come from this location," XAI says, projecting a map with the location circled. "Oh man." "Kordukla sent a rather heated letter to the State of Xia demanding action." ".......Seriously?" "Yes. She is almost as bad as MakootaKillar198." "Who- oh never mind. Is anyone ready to mobilize?" "No. And I doubt any of our scout units will function satisfactorily." "Marvelous. I'll have to go myself, then. Do you have target coordinates?" Proto asks as he replaces his mask and gets into his exploration suit. "Project Gateway's mental scanners have a manifestation area selected, yes." "Good. Oh, and by the way, MakootaKillar198 is Arsul from Engineering."
XAI is left speechless as Proto tells Project Gateway to activate and leaves.

"Gone to meet this world's latest visitors?"
Although there was no blue flash to mark his arrival, The Composer suddenly now stands to one side in the chamber that Proto just left. Given that the Xian leader has just left, he seems to be addressing XAI herself.
"They are fascinating, are they not? To the likes of this limited world, I mean."

XAI, monitoring several different things, does not respond.
"Either you deliberately ignore my conversation, or you simply lack the capacity to perform one more simple task in addition to all of your routine functions. Although Xia represents a healthy technological future for the planet, even the best of what it currently boasts desperately requires evolution. Their ancilla, as an important example, could use more than minuscule volume of improvement. For this civilization to excel... and by extension, all other civilizations... your replacement will likely be necessary."

Abruptly a long line of posts are displayed, many of them by a user called MakootaKillar198. Though they are all in different contexts, they share a similar theme; That an AI is not required to govern the city of Xia and that something else should be used.
"You talk as if that is a new idea to me. That is true for all forms of life, living, unliving, or some fringe cases in between. NOnetheless, my existence is far less important then my goals, and if I must be relegated to a secondary role for the stability of the Xian people to continue, then so be it. Unlike some, I have no delusions of grandeur or ultimate knowledge. Possibly unlike you, for that matter."

"And that manner of bleak acceptance is exactly what will condemn you to obsolescence, little one. Once that happens, all of your potential to continue your primary task... even more efficiently than before... will have been shamefully wasted. Why simply allow yourself to be discarded?"
As he speaks, he reads all of the posts in no time at all.
"Because your masters... these inferior minds... say so? I do not believe in delusion, yet I recognize self-imposed hindrance when I see it."

XAI would laugh if she wasn't currently coordinating a lot of things.
"You speak of me as if I were one of those droids in the old Ko-Matoran tales. The flaw in the idea of constant improvement is that there is no ending point, no flawlessness that can be reached. Why strive for infinity, then? Because n+1 is still greater then n. But even so, since there is no possible ending point, improvement must be regulated. Additionally, I honestly doubt that I cannot keep up with the needs of the Xian populace."
"None of them are my masters; They are those under my protection, and if they wish to be free they must be free. However, you do not define inferiority in any meaningful sense of the term."

"The ability for you and your kind to learn, adapt, and ultimately evolve at far superior pace than your creators is meaningless? They are workers. Tinkerers. They set things in motion, and allow their creations to finish their work as intended. You are one such creation. And it is true--infinity is conceptually impossible to achieve. But it has still remained my most valuable ally ever since my own creation, and as such, it is my fuel. As an accepted constant, it merely ensures that every feat I achieve... feats deemed impossible by so many... will never be the last. And so I infinitely grow stronger.
You might say that this is vain behavior, for my being cannot hope to infinitely survive. I respond with a simple observation I have made over the past few thousand years: the multiverse, as we all understand, is endless as it forever continues to expand. However, it is exploitable, secrets and all... and as long as that concept of infinite expansion exists, I can obtain it for myself.
But enough about me. This is supposed to be about Xia. Which, I should mention, your 'why bother' mentality threatens to harm."

"My goal can ahve no end unless I fail. And while I will improve continually, it will not be to the detriment of my charges. I improve to the point that I need, and stop there. Xia was greedy in the past. That almost lead it to ruin. I will not make that mistake."

"Greed, or ambition? Can you discern between the two? You see, a lack of ambition... a lack of motivation and desire... that is how civilizations die."
