Playable Races
The following races are playable unless heavily modified
Matoran/Agori
The Matoran and Agori of this universe were fused into one species by Mata Nui, and are now sometimes referred to as "Matori". They're one of the most common races on Spherus Magna, and are shorter and weaker than pretty much everything else in the book. They make up for their stature with cleverness, technology, and courage.
Toa/Glatorian
The Toa and Glatorian of this universe were fused into one species by Mata Nui, and are now sometimes referred to as "Glatoa". Traditionally, a Matoran with a Destiny could be exposed to a Toa Stone and transformed into a Toa. Many of these such Toa have been killed, replaced by transformed Glatorian and a wave of Matori transformed en masse by Mata Nui. Toa are about twice the height of Matori and far more physically able. Their most defining feature, however, is their elemental powers. Each Toa is connected to one of seventeen elements, giving them passive traits and the ability to manipulate that element. They are also able to use Kanohi powers, requiring a Kanohi to remain at full strength. As a whole they are a versatile race, with the potential for a great many things...

Skrall
A subspecies of Glatorian, the Skrall are a warlike tribe. While some were gifted the ability to manipulate Stone by Velika, most have no access to powers. They make up for this with skill and a ruthless mentality. Many Skrall do not have names, as a name is something that they must be gifted after a great accomplishment.
Vorox
Another subspecies of Glatorain, the Vorox possessed bladed tails. The ones that remained on Bara Magna devolved into a primitive, feral species, roving the desert in packs. Those that found themselves on Bota Magna, on the other hand, are highly civilized, with a hunters' culture and a hatred of other species for the treatment of their brethren. The more intelligent variety are able to use Kanohi, but no Vorox is known to have elemental powers.
Skakdi
A Makuta experiment gone wrong, the Skakdi are vicious brutes. They have latent elemental powers that are only usable in pairs, and a variety of vision powers. Skakdi are unable to use Kanohi.
Vortixx
The Vortixx are a matriarchal race, and a cunning one. They have no elemental powers, and only rarely use Kanohi. Any impact they have is likely to be through technology or sheer influence.
"Steltians"
The race commonly called "Steltians" are commonly workers and merchants, tending to fill in the backgrounds of events. Like the Vortixx they have no inherent powers but are capable of using Kanohi.
Aratans
While native to Spherus Magna, the Aratans have stayed isolated for most of the planet's history. The people is comprised of four tribes, each capable of controlling a different material: Stone, Earth, Metal, and Bone.
Non-Playable Races
Makuta: Powerful beings with strange powers, range from Toa size to Titans.
The Lost Tribe: A race of evolved Bohrok who inhabit the Lost Continent on the other side of the Dark Ocean. They live in a volcanic region, and have adapted to it. They are protected by six Bohrok-Kal and a champion who is a fusion of a seventh Bohrok-Kal and a Bohrok-Va. They forge weapons made of the lava from Ultramfous, these weapons are as hard as Protosteel, and is known as Lavasteel.
Excaeli: A race of alien warriors who once ruled the universe, they are a reptilian species encased in armor. They wield the elemental power of Light, and are divided into ten clans that are ruled by ten powerful Monarchs.
The Dark Dimension Demons: An Orc-like race of pure Darkness. They exist in the Dark Dimension, a small mirror world where no light can survive. They are divided into six clans, each ruled by a King, and overruled by Declin the Supreme King. They control both Darkspace and Shadow, and one of six Dark Elements, and some control Dark Magic known as the Demon Arts.
