Do Vortixx have the capability to wear Kanohi like they do in the canon?
They do, though I think most chose not too. I think I read that somewhere.
“No one ever stood atop the heavens before. Not you, or I, or even the gods. But the unbearable vacancy of heavens throne ends now. From now on, I alone will stand at the top.”

Introduction: The Aratans stem from a far away region of Spherus Magna, where exactly is unknown, even to them. Ancient records suggest that perhaps they were once the first species from this land, although it is unclear, and some of these records suggest interactions with beings thought to be the Great Beings.
The Aratans have only recently appeared in the southern area of the continent, when they arrived is not exactly known, but as it is there are several small villages that have been settled. They are a relatively peaceful people, content to mind to their own affairs. Upon further investigation it appears that each village came to where they are now from an underground tunnel.
They are slightly smaller than the average toa, standing somewhere around 6ft to 6.5ft. They tend to be built more stocky and come from one of the clans. The members of their clans can control their respective elements, however they require their element to be present and they must be touching their element to use their elemental powers. The Aratans have been known to wear kanohi, however it is currently unknown if they can or if they can’t activate the masks. To date of this article they have never been seen activating a kanohi, so it is commonly believed that they cannot.
There exists a few aratans that manifest magical abilities. These aratans are often called “Tua”, derived from the matoran word of “Toa” but simply meaning “magic warrior” in the aratan language. These Tua possess odd abilities that are unique to themselves.

They are able to control bone and the bone-like protrusions on their body, fashioning them as deadly weapons and armor. Members of the Arata Vaka are most often seen with white, light greys, and tan colors on their body and armor. The main disadvantage of their powers is the sparsity of the bone element and the fact that it is prone to splinter and crack under pressure.
The Clan of Iron: The Teln Erata, as they call themselves, are the Clan of Iron. They are able to control metal protodermis, they do not grow this element like the bone-like growths of the Arata Vaka, but instead take it from outside sources, once they have a portion of this protodermis they can form it into armor and weapons. The Clan of Stone are usually seen in greys, tans, and light grey colors.
The Clan of Earth: The Irata Kui, as they call themselves, are the Clan of Earth. They are able to control the extremely malleable earth, like the Arata Vaka they can form earth to their bodies, of which is has the greatest regenerative properties of any of their elements. It is not strong enough to be used as a weapon, but is makes for a great armor. Think of it like clay formed around their frame. The main disadvantage is the lack of offensive capabilities. The Clan of Earth are usually seen in black, green, and brown colors.
The Other Clans of the Arata: The following clans have not surfaced, and are still within the Underground Region they call home, very few travelers from these clans leave for the surface, usually to meet with the Aratan Villages for a variety reasons, whether personal, communal, or even trade.

The Clan of Air: The Aerata Lae, as they call themselves, are the Clan of Air. Perhaps the most nimble of the Arata Clans, those of the Clan of Air can use air to propel themselves in any direction, while this does not allow for flight, it allows them to jump farther, run faster, and overall be quite nimble beyond their normal physical limitations. The Clan of Air are usually seen in green, light blue, and teal colors.
The Clan of Magnetism: The Aerata Fae, as they call themselves, are the Clan of Magnetism. History The Aratans are a species that originally hailed from the Great Spirit Robot, in the lower island chains of the Robot's left leg. They kept to themselves for a majority of their history, until the Great Quake. (their name for the final battle between Mata Nui and Teridax) The Great Quake shook everything they understood about their world, and they were compelled to engage with those fighting the Controller (their name for Teridax) offering their support in this battle. Shortly after these events they fled the Great Spirit Robot onto the dusty surface of Bara Magna. The many clans split and went their own ways, but a scattered few made their way south of New Atero. There they set up small villages along a peninsula. The Arata people come from a clan-like culture, often dividing themselves as specialists to provide for their village, such as a builder, miner, farmer. They have remained this way and continue this way in the recent present.
