Takua tells the story of how he met Vashari during the return trip from the Lost Continent. I'm just going to assume that everyone but the Knights are listening. Again this happens after the Lost Continent.
“No one ever stood atop the heavens before. Not you, or I, or even the gods. But the unbearable vacancy of heavens throne ends now. From now on, I alone will stand at the top.”

Part 1
“So you want know about that blasted Arena, huh?” Takua said as sat on a storage crate below the deck of the HMS Hali. “Thing is, I can only tell you my part of the story. The rest you'll have to figure out for yourself. The big guy doesn't like to talk about those times. So here's what I know.
“It started on a much different world, many thousands of years ago. Tahu, the other Toa Nuva, and I were still building the original city of Atero back when I was taller with more gold.
“It stared slow at first, the water came inland more and more every year. Until finally, the Great Flood happened. The entire continent was swept away. We lost Pohatu in the original crisis, poor Gali searched for him for years long after we gave up. We were never the same though, after Pohatu. We lost a piece of ourselves that we never got back. It still breaks my heart to remember Galis face when she finally gave up too.
“We took the survivors, brought them to safety on an island, the onto land that was left. For a time it was like the old days back on Mata Nui, the island, not the god. But the island wasn't very lush, so the Toa Mahri and I went had to go to different islands for food and water. Eventually we got wind of other islands of survives, some flourishing, others hemorrhaging. We helped who we could, or who allowed us. We didn't make trouble, we just wanted to help our own people.
“For years it worked fine without any trouble. Trading was good, we had stuff people wanted and vise-versa. That is until the rumors of a new empire of people uniting the islands. Most were further south than we had ever gone, the storms were tough to get past certain points, not without bigger ships. The Empire sounded good, there was no reason to think it was as bad as it was until you got there.
“So we bounded together with our allies and built bigger ships that could make it through the storms. Our hope that trading with this Empire would flourish our chain of islands. It was the first hope we had in a long time, but it was only another failure.
“We made it through to the next chain, a branch of the Empire led by a sleazy little Agori who liked to call himself the Baron. Everything went good t first, but then we made our first mistake. We showed them our islands. It was simple, a few ships came with us to evaluate what we had, what we could afford to give and what we could get in return.
“But Kopaka sensed something was off. Tahu being Tahu ignored him as usual, we all did. We were desperate for a win. We wanted to live, not just survive. But more and more ships came, and they took more and more each time. It was to late before we realized we were getting the short end of the deal.
“We realized that Empire was little more than thieves and liars. That's when the piracy started. We had to start taking. Some of the Toa didn't agree to it, I was one of those against. But soon we started becoming desperate. So, I lead the way.
“We took from the Baron, ambushing the shipments of supplies that was sent to him over the cover of night. I worked out fine for a time. We robbed the Baron blind, and he knew nothing about who was doing it. We only took enough to supply our people, he had people too after all. But one day he called for help from the other branches of the Empire.
“That's when they sent him. We all though he was dead, but he was back, and stronger than ever. The Piraka, Zaktan. He came with an army of Golems, that were all but invincible. Onua was only one who could really stand against them. Our first encounter was not good."
“No one ever stood atop the heavens before. Not you, or I, or even the gods. But the unbearable vacancy of heavens throne ends now. From now on, I alone will stand at the top.”

Part Two
“We lost Hahil to then first, please don't ask how. But that's why this ship has her name. Jaller….
“Zaktan ambushed us on a routine run, and well you can guess what happened. Most of us got away, albeit some injures. We managed to avoid him for awhile, but Zaktan figured us out. He came at us with an army. The Empire was way larger than we thought. They cordoned off our island. So we relocated. We smuggled in supplies through the cordon, fighting only when we were forced too.
“Eventually we were found again, we fought long and hard in a cycle that lasted for four years after that. It got to the point where we couldn't reach our own home. Tahu and his team led our islands from there as they did in the past, but they eventually had to surrender to the Empire. We were on our own for a while.
“Until we were finally back up into a corner. I stayed behind so the Jaller and others could escape, and ended up a prisoner. I was locked up in the Barons castle for a while before being transferred to the Empires Capital.
“It was the biggest land mass left after the Great Flood, mostly desert. It was horrible place, a real “only the strong survive” kind of place. The biggest building in the Capital was the Arena. The Emperor forced prisons to fight monster Rahi, gladiators, and other prisons until they collapsed and died, either from injury or exhaustion.
“I was different though, they said I was special. I was kept as trophy.
“That's when I met the Emperor himself. Vezon the Mad King. He had become powerful, crazy powerful. He was invincible. No matter how much damage he sustained it was like nothing happened to him at all. The strongest truly ruled that land.
“I fought him as best I could, but even the power over Light did nothing to him. He did what I thought was impossible, and removed the Avohkii from my face. I was a near powerless Matoran again. Thrown in the dungeon under the Arena like a living trophy.
“I was forced to watch as more prisoners joined me, and then was sent to their deaths for the Empires amusement. Vezon loved that blasted Arena. I lost track of how long I was there. Lost hope. So many people came in and out of that dungeon that stopped bothering to learn names. But I helped them, trained them as best I could to fight as long as possible. Some didn't even try and just accepted death. I was beginning to feel that way myself.
“After untold years, untold death, I met a new prisoner. I though he was my old friend Jaller, he looked similar from a distance, but he was very different from anyone I'd ever seen. A Toa with a symbol burned into his forehead. The Vashari.
“He fought like no one I'd ever seen. He brought down creature after creature, gladiator after gladiator, monster after monster. They forced him to fight day after day, monster after monster. Each time the days became longer. It got to the point where'd spent whole weeks in the Arena.
“Amazingly, he brought all of his opponents down with killing any of them. I've never seen some fight so precisely, even while exhausted, and he was beyond exhausted.
“No one ever stood atop the heavens before. Not you, or I, or even the gods. But the unbearable vacancy of heavens throne ends now. From now on, I alone will stand at the top.”

Part Three
“That's when I met Hanah. She just showed up one day, skipping around like she owned the place. She hasn't changed much since then. I didn't know it at the time, but I saw that she and Vashari knew each other. I wasn't sure what was going on, and before I knew it, she left us with the door open.
“Vashari was sent on warpath. An uncaged tiger set lose on his captives. I had never seen so many broke limbs as I did that day. We freed the other prisoners, started a full blown revolution. We fought and fought until we found our way surrounded in the Arena. The Golems came, stopping us in our tracks, but not Vashari. There was just something inside him that couldn't be stopped. I'd gone from never seeing a Golem going down to see it dozens ripped apart.
“Eventually Vezon himself caught up to us. So sure of himself, he allowed Vashari to make the first punch. You should have seen the look on his face, he had gone for so long with out feeling pain that had forgotten what it felt like. It was the most brutal, vicious fight anyone had seen. It last hours, neither one backing down, giving no quarter.
“Then Vashari did what everyone though was impossible. He won. He ripped off Vezons head, and it was over. After that Vezons men let us all go. We went to the docks, got on a ship and were free to leave.
“It was thanks to him. A Toa who came out of nowhere. A Toa who returned to nowhere. He was gone, Vezon as gone too. The Mad King was just t stubborn to die, so he left too, searching for the Toa who managed to hurt him.
“I don't know the rest of the story, I wasn't there. But I know that wasn't the last time they fought. From what I hear, they went back and forth for a century. Only those that were there know what had happened. Eventually Vezon just disappeared entirely. We like to believe he's dead, but we know better. He's still out there somewhere.
“But my friends were free, my people were free. I had hope again. We all did. Eventually I would meet a Vashari again, but that's a long story for another time.
“So you be the judge. You tell me what you believe happened next. Whether you think the Mad Skakdi is waiting somewhere to continue his never ending vendetta. All I know is that my people are free of him, and that's good enough for me.
“I'll fight by Vasharis side for as long as I'm needed. All in the hope that I could repay such a massive debt. If you doubt him, you're wrong. If you oppose him, you will fail. If you hate him, you will see the light. I've seen it so many times it's no longer surprising.
“But like I said, that's for you to decide. That's just one part of a very long story. One that has more bad than good."
“No one ever stood atop the heavens before. Not you, or I, or even the gods. But the unbearable vacancy of heavens throne ends now. From now on, I alone will stand at the top.”

OOC: Yes, backstory stuff! Tuhi's fangirling as hard as me!
Come! Come and listen, my friends. Listen as I regale you with the next chapter in the legend of the Bionicle.

So we finally get to see the backstory, the original story behind Vash' and the others. We now know the Knight's backstories, save for Other Rolvik and Antroz's. And in all seriousness, this is interesting. Good job Vash'.

I wanted to show what Takuas involvement was, at least the beginning. Like he's says it's a long arduous tale.
“No one ever stood atop the heavens before. Not you, or I, or even the gods. But the unbearable vacancy of heavens throne ends now. From now on, I alone will stand at the top.”
Does anyone else wonder where Kira gets his demonic font?
All the time. I'm assuming that it's some sort of HTML/BBCode modifier since he pulled it off on the LMBs.
He sent me a link once, buts its lost.
