After a few seconds in the air, Bakud fires his charged-up Rhotuka midway in the air at himself, causing him to teleport to the ground as soon as it hits him.
The Protodrake is very confused and lands somewhere to try and find its missing meal.
Bakud is most certainly feeling pretty darn pleased with himself. He pulled that off perfectly. None of the Makuta could have done anything like that. He has becomes so pleased with himself that he lets all his suspicions of the Rahi being sent after him by the Brotherhood of Makuta go as he proceeds through the district. The changes to the city grate at him as he searches for any Matoran he could ask for directions.

He finds the gate abandoned and that even past that the city looks fairly empty. Empty that is, except for some wild Rahi running around, trying to make their way into Matoran homes.

Bakud figures that if a Rahi is trying to break into a home, there's probably going to be someone in there. His approaches the homes to try to identify the Rahi attacking them.

He finds that these ones are the elusive Sand Tarakava. Or rather, normally elusive as they try to punch their way through the homes.

Bakud walks up behind the Tarakava attacking the building closest to him, not really putting much effort into being stealthy, charging his Rhotuka.

It doesn't notice him as it finally punches through the home and lets out an excited roar.
Bakud leaps up behind the Tarakava - Not to jump on it, but to get close enough for his prehensile weapon to maneuver over the Rahi's head and smash down where Bakud remembers the masks of such species are located with sufficient force to knock it off. He keeps his Rhotuka prepared while doing so.

He is successful and it goes out cold, but one of the others finally notice him and swing a mighty swift punch at Bakud.

Bakud seems to attempt to strike the attacking Sand Tarakava's mask head-on with no care for defense, getting in close to use his weapon. Before he can land his attack, the punch sends him flying, as Bakud uses his mechanical expertise to roll with it somewhat. However, a few seconds after the punch lands, Bakud suddenly goes from injured and sprawled out on the ground a few meters away to right in front of the Sand Tarakava, with weapon ready to strike, thanks to the use of his charged "Flashback" Rhotuka on himself.

The lizard gives little pause in thought over confusion for this matter and just sends another furious punch at the Matoran.

Bakud continues with his earlier attack, foreseeing and avoiding the second punch while striking its mask with his weapon.
Bakud strolls into the home in question, looking for the matoran resident the Rahi were so eager to get to.
He finds three Matoran, all ready with Disk Launchers. They're clearly terrified, but are both surprised and calmed upon seeing Bakud.
"Thank Mata Nui! Did you defeat the beasts?!"
As Mata Nui is mentioned, Bakud visibly tenses and loses his composure.
"Yes. Yes, you're right. I defeated the beasts. Not Mata Nui. So you should probably thank me, and not Mata Nui."
After saying this almost impulsively, he quickly gets a hold of himself and laughs nervously, speaking quickly before any of the Matoran have time to react.
"By which I mean, you know, he's asleep and all. Very tragic, that. Means we have to fight for ourselves. Anyway, I'm a mechanic who was sent here to help with the upkeep of the... you know. The law enforcement machines."

The Matoran are clearly confused. Eventually one of them manages to stumble out, "..Vv-v-vahki? Vakhi. Yeah, the Vahki! They're somewhere! Um, I don't know where, I don't work in that area! Um, do you guys?"

They shake their heads no.
Bakud is clearly irritated by this, showing many obvious tells, pacing and gesticulating somewhat shakily as he speaks, but his tone remains calm and collected.
"Well, then, you wouldn't happen to know anyone who knows where these Vahki machines are? Anyone, anywhere? I believe this is where they're made and maintained, right?"

"Um, in the factory section? It should be some ways down from here."

There are of course more Rahi attacking various homes along the way, but the factory section itself is fairly safe, with Vahki keeping the monsters at bay.
