Welcome to Gen 1 RP. While on this site, we expect you to follow and uphold certain standards and rules. Some of these will seem painfully obvious, while others you may take issue with or find too vague/strict. We cannot hope to list everything and, as such, consider this to be a living document that will be updated and altered as problems arise. Ultimately, what we are here for fun roleplay experiences, collaborative writing, wholesome discussions, and overall enjoyable time for all ages. Though it make not be listed here, keep the goal in mind as anything that goes against that vision will be dealt with accordingly.
Please also keep in mind that even the most robotic and professional among us are still flawed creatures. We will miss things, make mistakes, and even some bad calls here and there. If it looks like the rules are being applied inconsistently, that someone else can seemingly get away with something you cannot, this may not be the case. The person in question may be someone we know far better than you and thus understand the intentions an context behind it, not truly breaking our guides. Or it is another part of our community that has some different standards than another section, perhaps more strict or more lax. This is not to say you should never challenge or point these perceived inconsistencies out. If you do so in a civil manner, we will consider the facts and give a civil, polite explanation in return.
With all that said, here are the rules and guides that govern all of Gen 1 RP.
Posting Content and Behavior:
Profanity & Sexual Materials:
Gen1 is home to members of varying ages and tolerance levels, so keep call content on this site in "Kid-Mode"/child friendly. Again, as stated before, we cannot hope to list everything that we here consider to be inappropriate and unfit. That said, even if you disagree, you very well know what these things are and really do not need them explained to you. But if for some reason you still need a further guide, then the following should suffice.
Swearing, derogatory, and foul language of any kind are strict prohibited. No suggestive chat, sexual or pornographic references; sexually suggestive imagery; sexually offensive, explicit, or objectifying material; other bodily actions that may make people uncomfortable; overly gory and gross references; and anything else thereof.
Staff will use their discretion and remove anything such things from the site as soon as possible. Depending on the severity, you could receive a warning and explanation as to why or a life-time ban.
External Links:
Links to other sites outside of Gen 1 are permitted as long as their content is appropriate. Even if the site itself can/does contain content that does not fit our rules, such as Youtube, as long as the content in that link fits the rules it will be fine. However, there are sites whose level of inappropriate content is so high, or so easy to run across on, that even if the intended content linked is fine, that link will be removed. Once again, we cannot list every site that would fall in such a category, but you know which ones we are referring. If you truly are not sure, please ask a Staff member if the link is fine.
Images:
You are allowed to post appropriate images, but they must be relevant to the discussion at hand. Pictures and memes are great and all, but they can quickly become spammy and we have very limited storage space on this site. Which is why any and all images posted here should be under 1 MB (megabyte) in size as to use up as little space as possible. For similar reasons, please do not post any animated imagery, such as GIFs, as they take up too much space.
If you must absolutely show so many memes or many images, please upload them to the Discord in the correct area.
SPAM:
Stupid, Pointless, Annoying Messages. You all know what spam is and the less of it the better. One word replies such as "LOLs" and emotes/emojis are all well and fine in PMs, chatrooms like Discord, and such, but are a painful mess to walk through on a forum like this. So please make posts of decent length and that actually contribute to the conversation. Again if you must just let out a "LOL" or something along those lines, please either use the Comment button or the Discord.
Stay On Topic:
As previously stated, always stay on topic and do not veer off into offshoot conversations for too long. After all, we wish to add to the discussion.
If you wish to discuss something else, please make a topic for it.
Topics: Please title your topics titles perfectly clear as to their subject and the description within equally coherent.
Religious and Political Discussions:
There are some aspects that we simply cannot remove or separate from ourselves. Religion and political ideals are one of those many things and we understand how important they are for people. Which is why we do allow discussions on such topics. That said, you must keep the conversation civil, level-headed, and polite. As previously mentioned, as these are so close to us personally, things can often get heated really fast and become personal. If you are unable to keep yourself in check in such conversations, or can see that the conversation is going down a bad road, please end the conversation there. Even if you are absolutely right, even if the staff agrees if you, just let it go. No-one has over managed to convince or convert another person on the internet by shouting at them.
And if it is not clear, we will not tolerate using your own or someone else's believes as a reason to attack them. You may not agree, and you can even hate what they like, but do not attack the person.
Debates and Flame Wars:
In a similar vain, you are allowed to have debates, and even arguments. This is primarily a roleplay forum, so debates and arguments are bound to spring up like weeds between players. Just keep calm, civil, and polite. If you are unable to do so, or unable to settle something with another user, it will be settled for you. You will not want us to come in and have to end it for you all.
Intentional instigation controversy, riling up other members, inciting flame wars, or promoting rebellion of any kind are prohibited.
Trolling:
Once again, this is something that is both obvious and on the fence. In general, do not troll and especially do no antagonize people. However, if you do decide to troll, and it's in good faith and a joke among friends, then it might slide on by. The Staff and your fellow community members will decide if it was done well enough, but as a precaution we suggest you do not troll.
Be Respectful:
These boards are designed as safe place for a variety of different individuals and ages. As we will constantly reiterate, please keep all content posted here appropriate for any age group.
Show respect for all community members, their beliefs, opinions, and backgrounds.
If a disagreement or other conflict does occur, stay calm and try to address it peacefully.
If you need any assistance please report the issue to a Staff personal. We are happy to help.
To report a specific user, send a PM including their name and why you want to report them.
Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated here.
Respect the Staff:
If a Staff member does something against the rules, this does not give you the right to do it as well. Instead, report their action to another Staff personal.
We, as well as you, can expect our Staff to be fair and respect the rules. Those who do not will be dealt with accordingly.
Please respect the position, even if you do not respect the person holding it.
Be Yourself:
And finally, always be yourself (within the limits of the rules of course). Please do not impersonate any other person, member, celebrity, being, or entity outside of the roleplays.
Please also keep in mind that even the most robotic and professional among us are still flawed creatures. We will miss things, make mistakes, and even some bad calls here and there. If it looks like the rules are being applied inconsistently, that someone else can seemingly get away with something you cannot, this may not be the case.
