The land of the Skakdi. Dominated by grassy plains and the occasional hill, this area once saw a terrible battle between the Brother-Hood of Makuta and the assembled forces of the Skakdi. A blackened and charred field is all that remains to remind the world of the once fierce Skakdi force.
A few miles from the scene of devastation, a grassy field stands in relative peace. Gradually, however, the sight of the plain seems to quake, as if space has become distorted. After a few seconds, the reason for this distortion becomes clear. A year long illusion that has long kept the activities of Chagrin a secret is released, and what appeared to be an open field now is revealed to be a majestic walled castle, dominated by one large interior tower. White walls encrusted with various icy blue crystals make up the castle, while the tops of the smaller towers, and the large tower are colored black. The flag of the Throne of Chagrin waves defiantly on the top of the main tower.

It is hailed via mental and radio frequencies. "Hail the Restored Brother-Hood! We welcome our Makuta lord Umbrax and his forces. I am Zakaz, commander of operations for the generals of Chagrin. Proceed due south and you will find our castle Chagrin."
The illusion that is present hiding the castles activity is altered so as to allow the Penumbra to view the castles forces.
As the Penumbra approaches Chagrin, it finds a vast assortment of massive and menacing, slate grey Dread Wing like craft hovering all about the castle. Each individually is only about half the size of a Manas. There are also six Dread Wing craft present.
The Castle itself is a white with black highlights walled fortress. Boasting a central tower, it also sports two additional minor towers positioned on opposite sides from each other on the outer wall. Inside the outer wall lies a huge courtyard bustling with activity.

Umbrax wonders why Charix thinks he has forces as he allows the Penumbra to sweep the area, looking for suitable ground to hide in.

Umbrax finds that the area surrounding the castle is a simple grassy plain. A few small hills adorn the plains, but, apart from this, there are no naturally occurring hiding places.
The Penumbra is included within the illusion projected by the castle, and vanishes from any prying eyes.
The Penumbra is hailed again via mental message. "Hail Lord Makuta. I am Terrick, lead officer of strategic Oohnorahk operations here at Chagrin. May I and a small group teleport on board your ship in accordance with our examination mission?"

"Permission granted. You may come aboard."
The Penumbra turns its akaku sensors downward, searching for a large cave or something similar.

While the Penumbra does find several underground tunnels being carved out underneath the castle, it does not find any other underground caves. It does however, notice, upon inspection of the castle itself, the presence of a large, hanger like area positioned in the very rear of the castle. This Hanger's two sliding doors evidently open upon the rear courtyard. The Hanger is, however, much smaller than a Manas.
The Oohnorahk Terrick, flanked by two Vohtorahk Deployers teleports aboard the Penumbra with a dozen other Oohnorahk, and a couple of Bohrok Va carrying crates. Upon arrival, the Oohnorahk begin mapping out the Manas, noting the basic layout and location of utilities and technologies. Analysis at 10%

It rapidly cycles through these tunnels, attempting to locate a space sufficient to hold it if it were to hollow it out.

While none of the tunnels themselves are big enough to house the Penumbra, it does find that, given the ability to hollow out the ground or become intangible, it could definitely fit itself underground.

Analysis of Xian tech is now at 89%.
OOC: Would the Oohnorahk learn anything from their dissection of the various Xian systems? I'm asking because I am somewhat concerned, and very much interested to know the cannonical explanation for the reproduction of elemental control...I don't really understand how such a thing is possible absent the knowledge of a great being.

OOC: Doubtful. Current Xian energy tech is a result of many years of evolution by Proto and Xian research and design.
My explanation for the elemental control is based on how I believe powers work in bionicle; a specific "proto-energy" is created on a per-power basis, which disintegrates into the actual energy associated with the power. With Elemental abilities, this is EE. Virtually all Xian energy tech uses this principle and projects the energy in a tightly controlled way(LIkely via technology based on the Mask of Emulation). Elemental control is a relatively recent innovation that is not possessed by Manas craft.
OOC: Okay. Well if the Manas are not using this as a basis for their Toa like elemental power, then I have no idea how they are doing it. Honestly, I have always associated Toa like control of an element with the presence of a mind capable of exerting will power. How can a Manas which is powered by AI, apply any sort of will power in order to control an element?
